Eleanor (Mooney) Dahar passed away peacefully on July 24, 2021 surrounded by her family.
She was born in Woburn, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Henry J. and Mary E. (Connolly) Mooney, of Woburn, Massachusetts.
She is a graduate of St. Charles High for Girls and Emanuel College. She completed her graduate work at Northeastern University. While at Northeastern, she was the assistant to Dr. Norman Greenwald for his documentary series on the Middle East for PBS.
She was Past President of the Woburn Teachers Association, and the Derryfield Garden Club in Manchester. She served on the Board of the Hampshire House in Manchester which, at the time, was a home away from home for girls coming into Manchester for employment or to further their studies.
For many years, she was the Chairman of the N.H. Chapter of the March of Dimes Annual Governor's Tea at the State House. She was also the Chairman of the Annual March of Dimes Ball at the Manchester Country Club.
Eleanor was a member of the Patron's Committee for the Annual Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Pageant under the chairmanship of the late, amazing, Lucille Kelley.
She is survived by her husband, Attorney Victor W. Dahar, of Manchester, their daughter, Attorney Eleanor Wm. Dahar of Manchester, their son, Attorney Victor W. Dahar, Jr. and his wife, Candace and their two children Violet Byrne Dahar and Victor W. Dahar III of Manchester, their daughter, Mercedes Wm. Dahar Dennehy, her husband, Phillip and their daughter Eleanor Wm. Dahar Dennehy all of Boston, Massachusetts and their son, S. William Dahar, II (Sy) and his wife, Hannah and their son, Robert S.P. Dahar of Manchester.
Her survivors also include her brother, Henry J. Mooney of Florida, her brother Richard Francis Mooney and his wife, Marion of Beverly, Massachusetts,
her sister Mary L. LeFebvre and her husband Norman of Burlington, Massachusetts, her sister Patricia A. Parks and her husband Steve Parks of Hyannis, Massachusetts and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and her grandparents, Patrick H. and Maria (Byrne) Mooney of Woburn, Massachusetts and Patrick and Ellen (McCusker) Connolly of Mission Hill, Roxbury, Massachusetts. She was also predeceased by two close cousins, Father Jerry Hogan and Monsignor Frances A. McGann, both natives of Woburn, Massachusetts and of greater Boston.
SERVICES: There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday (7/31) at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Cathedral, 439 Pine St., Manchester. Committal prayers will follow at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
