Born in Manchester on November 12, 1938, she was the daughter of Eugene and Alice (Dowling) Spratt. She was lifelong resident of Manchester.
Mrs. Hawes worked at Goulet Supply Company, which later became The Granite Group, for over 30 years.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and co-workers, and walking.
She was married to James J. Hawes, who died in 2001.
The family includes five children, James M. Hawes of Derry, John T. Hawes of Bradenton, FL, and Richard J. Hawes, Joanne E. Baron and Susan M. Perry all of Manchester; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Bernard and Esther Leclerc both of Manchester; two brothers, Eugene Spratt of Coatsville, PA and Thomas Spratt of Manchester; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, January 25, 2010 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 Elm St., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford.
