Born in Manchester on April 3, 1919, he was the son of Wilfrid and Mary Jane (Gagnon) Hamel. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
During World War II he served in the US Army.
Mr. Hamel worked for the Manchester Highway Department for 33 years. He played guitar with The Gibson Strings band for many years. He also enjoyed gardening.
The family includes his wife of 61 years, Lorraine C. (Charest) Hamel of Manchester; a daughter, Jeannette C. White of Merrimack; a sister, Florence Duane of California and cousins, nieces and nephews.
IN HIS LIFE: The family also includes a granddaughter, Jessica Wyman and her husband, Christopher of Merrimack.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday June 22, 2007 at St. Catherine Church, corner of Webster and Hemlock streets, Manchester. Graveside committal prayers with military honors followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
