He was born in Houma, LA on November 26, 1921 to Joseph and Alina (Lirette) Prospere. He grew up in Houma where he worked as a fisherman.
Ernest entered the US. Marine Corps during WWII and saw action in the Pacific Theatre including Guadalcanal and the Solomon Island Campaign.
He later returned to Manchester and worked as a television repairman for Merrimack Tire and Battery for many years until his retirement.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans chapter 18 and the Catholic War Veterans Post 1624.
Members of his family include two daughters, Susan Brisson and her husband, Alfred, of North Carolina and Gloria Ullrich and her husband, Verne, of Manchester; a son, David Prospere of Bridgewater VT; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Violet (Carbonneau) Prospere in 2004; a son, Richard E. Prospere; two sisters, Eula Fabre and Doris Hebert, two brothers, Murphy Prosperie and Junius Prosperie.
