Esther Carruth

Esther (Caldwell) Carruth, 82, of Bedford, died November 28, 2012 surrounded by family at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Salem, MA on April 25, 1930 to Wallis and Rachel (Kenney) Caldwell. She lived in Bedford for several years, but spent the majority of her adult life in Marblehead, MA. Esther enjoyed her career as an LNP with the Mary Allen Hospital in Marblehead, MA, as well as her time spent as a secretary. She retired in 1999. She spent time traveling with friends and with the New Boston Senior Group. She also enjoyed fishing, knitting, needlepoint and most of all, spending time with her family. Esther was predeceased by her beloved husband, George Carruth, Sr. and by her great granddaughter Mary Margaret Carruth.

The family includes one son, George Carruth, Jr., of Syracuse, NY, and his wife Tracey; one daughter, Rachelmarie Day, of Bedford, and her husband James; three grandchildren, Catherine Carruth of Chicago, Ill., Bryant Carruth, of Albany, NY, and his wife Katherine and Crystal Carruth of Bedford; two great grandchildren, John Paul and William Bryant Carruth of Albany, NY; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Bedford Presbyterian Church, 4 Church Rd., Bedford, NH 03110. Burial took place on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Waterside Cemetery, 294 West Shore Dr., Marblehead, MA 01945.
