Eugene W. Boutin, 79, of Auburn, NH, passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family on August 11, 2024. He was the son of the late Ludger and Edith Boutin.

Eugene was the devoted husband to his wife, Catherine Boutin. He leaves behind six children: Ursula Rouleau of Merrimack, NH; Todd Boutin of Alburgh, VT; Stephanie and Mark Hersey of Barre, VT; Amanda Plecinoga of Auburn, NH; Justin and Colleen Boutin of Raymond, NH; and Heather and Brian Jillson of St. Albans, VT. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Melissa Boutin of Grand Isle, VT. As well as nieces, nephews and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Eugene is remembered by his siblings: Doris Jodoin of Canada, James and Jeanne Boutin of VT, Diane and Skip Gates of VT, and Darlene and George Thomas of MI. He is also survived by sister-in-law Mary Grace Costa of Boston, MA; Therese Kelly of Wellesley, MA; and brother-in-law Gene and Kimberly Sullivan of Bridgewater, MA. He was predeceased by his brothers Paul, Bernard, and Richard Boutin, all from VT.

 

Gene was an accomplished residential and commercial builder whose legacy extended far beyond his impressive projects. In addition to founding and running a successful cabinetry business, Gene was known for his unwavering support and encouragement of his staff and friends, fostering an environment of loyalty and respect. His love, generosity, and compassion touched the lives of everyone he encountered. Even in retirement, Gene continued to work tirelessly, building, remodeling, and helping neighbors, friends, and family with projects in and around their homes. He was a devout Catholic, deeply committed to his faith and the teachings of the Church, finding strength and inspiration in his relationship with God. Above all, Gene's devotion to his family was unparalleled; he cherished every moment spent with them, serving as a guiding light and a source of inspiration. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the lasting mark he left on both the industry and the hearts of those he loved.

 

The family would like to acknowledge and thank Amedisys Hospice and the Palliative Care Team at The Cancer Center, whose compassionate care and support provided comfort not only to Gene, but also to our family during difficult times. The staff’s dedication, expertise, and kindness ensured that Gene received the best possible care, allowing him to maintain dignity and peace. We are eternally grateful for the exceptional service and love that surrounded us during this journey.

Calling hours at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St, Manchester, will be Friday, August 16th from 4 to 7 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 am in Holy Rosary Church, 21 Main St, Hooksett. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Hudson.
