Eugene "Sully" Sullivan, 78, of Manchester, died March 10, 2017 at Catholic Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born in Manchester on May 29, 1938 to Eugene P. and Juliette (Gardner) Sullivan. He graduated from St. Marie High School in 1956 and was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years.
Eugene worked at Granite State Machine for over 50 years. He was an athlete who had an avid enjoyment of softball, bowling and golf. In 1956 he was named the Best All-Round Athlete for St. Marie High School and was one of New Hampshire's top pitchers for fast-pitch softball.
He was a former member of the Alpine Club Drum and Bugle Corps and American Legion Post 79, both in Manchester.
The family includes two daughters, Debbie Ranahan and her husband, Jim, and Sharon Caron and her husband, Ron; four grandchildren, Heather Caron, Brandon Ranahan, Tim Caron and Evelyn Ranahan; two great grandchildren, Madison and Elliana; a brother, Albert Sullivan and his wife, Arlene; two half-sisters, Lucienne Cardin and Georgette Guay and her husband, Marc; his longtime companion, Diane Camire; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, March 17, 2017 at St. Marie Church, 378 Notre Dame Ave., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
