Sister Eva Ledoux, (Sister M. of the Divine Savior), 104, of the Sisters of Holy Cross, 357 Island Pond Rd., died December 5, 2003, at the Holy Cross Health Center in Manchester..
Born June 17, 1899, in St. Albins VT, she was the daughter of Amedee and Corinne (Aubertin) Ledoux.
Sister Eva entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1920 and made her final profession of vows in 1929. She had been a member of the Congregation for 83 years.
She was a well-known artist and was listed in the "Who's Who" Artists in the East.
She was a graduate of Manchester Institute of Arts and Sciences where she studied under John William Chandler, and from the Arts Institute of Boston, where she studied under Philip Hicken and MacIver Reddie. She also took courses at University of New Hampshire under John Hatch; in Montreal under Charles Maillard and Eugene Charpentier; at the University of Madrid, Spain, under Juan Llama Segara, and in France under Marguerite Bermond.
She taught art at Notre Dame College in Manchester, at the Community College in Ketchikan, Alaska, where she was stationed for two years and where she spent numerous summers giving art classes and painting. She also taught art from her studio at St. George Manor where she resided for 65 years.
She participated in art exhibits in Manchester at L'Association Canado Americaine, the Currier Gallery of Art, and elsewhere in New Hampshire and other states.
Family members include a sister, Angelina LeBlanc of Leesburg, FL; several nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday December 9, 2003 in the chapel of St. George Manor.
Burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery.
