Sister Evelyn Ledoux (Sr. Florence de St. Marie), age 83, of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, Manchester, died March 17, 2006, at St. Joseph Residence in Manchester, NH after 58 years of religious life

Born in Nashua, NH, November 23, 1922, she was the daughter of Victor and Anna (Desmarais) Leoux.

She entered the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in 1945, made her first Profession in 1948, and her final Profession in 1953. She received her nursing education at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, and her RN certification from the states of New Hampshire and Rhode Island in 1945.

She began her nursing career at Presentation of Mary Infirmary at St. Hyacinthe, Canada. From 1950 to 1955, she served at Our Lady of the Mountains Academy in Gorham, NH, and from 1955 to 1959 at Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson, NH. In 1959, she was instrumental in organizing the new St. Marie Infirmary in Manchester where she remained as head nurse until 1963. She then joined the staff at Rivier College in Nashua as Coordinator of Health Services for the sisters and students. She retired in 1999 and was transferred to the St. Joseph Residence in Manchester.

Family members include a sister, Therese Sweeney of Nashua; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday March 21, 2006 in the Resurrection Chapel. Burial was in St. Louis de Gonzague Cemetery in Nashua.

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, was in charge of arrangements.
