Fernand J. Spenard

Fernand J. Spenard, 88, of Manchester died September 22, 2004 at Elliot Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Manchester on May 8, 1916, he was the son of Zoel and Laura (Fortier) Spenard. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Army and saw active duty as part of the 6:30 am. first wave in the Battle of Normany.

Mr. Spenard worked for B & M Railroad for many years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Workers and served as its treasurer for two terms. He was a also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Manchester.

The family includes his wife of 56 years, Bibiane (Robitaille) Spenard of Manchester; four daughters, Emilie L. Kaplan of Manchester, Marie S. Heath and Anita L. Nelson both of Hooksett and Judith S. Samardelis of Auburn; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday September 27, 2004 in Sacred Heart Church, 223 So. Main St., Manchester. Burial with military honors followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester assisted the family with arrangements.
