Fernande J. Descoteaux

Fernande J. (Chalifour) Descoteaux, 67, of Manchester died February 11, 2002 at Catholic Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born in Manchester on September 14, 1934, she was the daughter of Laurent H. and Cecile (Gelinas) Chalifour. She was a graduate of Villa Augustina in Goffstown and was a lifelong resident of Manchester.

She worked at J.J. Moreau Hardware Store in Manchester. After raising her family, she worked 25 years for the Boy Scouts of America, Daniel Webster Council and retired as registrar of that organization in 1996.

She was a lifelong communicant of St. Jean the Baptist Church.

The family includes her husband of 46 years, Arthur A. Descoteaux of Manchester; three sons, Gerald A. Descoteaux of Bedford, David L. Descoteaux of Dillon, CO and Marc A. Descoteaux of Colchester, VT; four grandchildren; two brothers, Rev. Gerald F. Chalifour of Manchester and Andre Chalifour of Brattleboro, VT; a sister, Dorothy Descoteaux of Dover; cousins, nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Thursday, February 14 in St. John the Baptist Church of the Parish of the Transfiguration, corner of Kelley and Youville streets. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd..
