Flora Belle (Cherry) Berry, 85, of Manchester died August 26, 2004 at Integrated Health Services at Manchester after a long illness.
Born in Ashford, AL on April 2, 1919, she was the daughter of Andrew J. and Era (Johns) Cherry. She graduated from Ashford Academy in Ashford, AL and excelled in all sports, including basketball for which she awarded a college scholarship. She lived in Manchester most of her life.
Mrs. Berry operated her own interior decorating business in Manchester for 40 years. She had also worked as a real estate agent for several years.
She volunteered at the Ward 6 polls in Manchester during elections for several years. In addition, she was an active member of the Catholic Medical Center Associates.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles E. Berry in 1990 and by a grandson, Daniel J. McKinnon in 1994. She was also was predeceased by eight sisters and one brother.
The family includes two daughters, Linda M. McKinnon of Litchfield and Irene M.B. Fullam of Manchester; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Cain of Ashford, AL; two brothers, Clinton Cherry of Ashford, AL and Andrew L. Cherry of Palm Bay, FL; several nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday August 31, 2004 at St. Peter's Church, 567 Manchester Rd., Auburn. Burial followed at St. Joseph Cemetery, Donald St., Bedford.
