ST. AGATHA, ME / MANCHESTER, NH - Florine (Morin) Michaud, age 83, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2020 in Manchester, NH.
She was born in St. Agatha, Maine to Joseph D. and Ida (Pelletier) Morin. She graduated from St. Agatha High School in 1954 and married her husband, Jack, in 1961. She was a loving and devoted mother to her two children, teaching them the importance of family, friends, and faith.
Florine worked for Maine Public Service Company for a number of years but will be best remembered as a fixture behind the counter of the St. Agatha post office, where she had a 38-year career with the U.S. Postal Service, serving the last twenty years as Postmaster. Florine truly enjoyed her work and took pleasure in serving her customers and connecting with members of the community on a daily basis. Her retirement in 2005 was bittersweet.
Florine's commitment to the community extended beyond her work and was further fueled by her strong Catholic faith and pride in her Acadian heritage. At her core, Florine was kind, compassionate, and giving. She was an enthusiastic volunteer, devoting immeasurable time to the parish, Ste-Agathe Historical Society, Long Lake Public Library, and Ladies of St. Anne.
Florine was an avid reader, continuous learner, and enjoyed expanding her horizons. She traveled extensively, whether with family or friends, experiencing many adventures and creating some of her favorite memories. Her kind heart, quick wit, and bright eyes will be missed.
Florine is survived by her children, Andrew of Naples, FL, and Elaine of Manchester, NH; her siblings, Francis and wife Claudia, James and wife Patricia, Phillip and partner Stan Albert, and Rita (James) Chamberland, all of St. Agatha; Patricia of Lake Worth, FL; Gerard of Old Orchard Beach, ME; Lorraine Zimmerman of Loxahatchee, FL; and many nieces and nephews and their families. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, and siblings Maurice, Angela, Camille, Rose Marie (Joseph) Lapointe, and Richard.
A memorial service will be held in St. Agatha in the summer of 2021.
