Francis was born on May 7, 1931, and was the son of Antonio and Adelia (Barros) Batista. He lived in Manchester most of his life.
From 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1955 he served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Mr. Batista worked as a driver for both the A-1 Asphalt Co., and the Manchester Mental Health Center.
He enjoyed taking walks, working outside his house, and watching golf. He was especially fond of fishing, and will be remembered as an avid Red Sox fan.
Family members include his wife, Pauline (Rochette) Batista of Merrimack; three daughters, Cheryl Ann Petas, Karen Jean Verville, and Debra Larose; two sons, Scott Batista and Wayne Batista; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren ; one sister, Mary Dionne; two brothers, John Batista and Philip Batista; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service with military honors was held at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd. Friday March 28, 2008.
Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St. assisted the family with the arrangements.
