Francis T. "Oakie" O'Connell, 76, of Manchester died June 26, 2002 at Catholic Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Born in Somerville, MA on October 17, 1925, he was the son of Timothy and Elizabeth (Wall) O'Connell. He lived in Manchester for many years.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy.
He worked as a credit manager with Public Finance Company of Boston for many years. After retiring, he worked on a part-time basis with Spring Machine Company in Manchester for several years.
Mr. O'Connell was a former member of Socialite Singles at VFW Post 79 in Manchester.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy E. (White) O'Connell in 1991.
The family includes his wife of five years, Doris R. (Leclerc)(Cote) O'Connell of Manchester; two daughters, Joan D. LaCourse of Manchester and Susan A. Walsh of Bedford; three grandchildren; three sisters, Claire Vasapolli of Woburn, MA, Ruth Culpon of Sanford, ME and Helen Sawicki of Lowell, MA; three step children, Patricia Lefebvre, Joyce Rand and Michael Cote all of Manchester; six step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday June 28, 2002. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery, 765 Brown Ave., Manchester.
