He was born in Manchester, February 21, 1921, and was the son of Fred and Gertrude(Gallagher) Scannell. He was a member of St. Catherine Parish.
He was a member of the graduating class of 1939 from Manchester High School West. He served in the United States Navy during WW II. Following an honorable discharge he completed his education as a member of the class of 1948 from UNH. In 1986 he retired from Defense Logistics Agency of the Department of Defense, and in 1996 he retired from the Hillsborough County Sheriffs department. He was a member of the American Legion Henry J. Sweeney Post #2, as well as a life member of the Raphael Social Club.
Frederic enjoyed reading, discussing sports and politics, and the challenge of a difficult crossword puzzle. He was predeceased by his wife Helen Scannell in 2003.
IN HIS LIFE: Family members include; a daughter, Kathleen Martell and her husband Chase, of Hooksett; a son David Scannell, and his wife Kim Calhoun, of Manchester; 2 grandchildren, Cullen and Abby; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Thursday, December 10, 2009 at St. Catherine Church Webster St. Manchester.
Prayers of final Commendation were said at St. Joseph Cemetery, Donald St. Bedford.
