Frederick B. Chenevert of Manchester, NH, passed away at his home on June 28, 2026, from acute renal failure after heroically fighting through 21 hospital stays in 18 months at Elliot Hospital.
Born in Fitchburg, MA, in 1946, he married his college sweetheart, Norma Chenevert, of Harwich, MA, on June 28, 1969. He died in her arms on their 57th wedding anniversary. Christmas was his favorite holiday and he loved to inject his humor into his annual letter of life’s adventures. They have been saved and serve as an annual diary for his family to share forever.
His hobby was painting ceramic santas which he often gave away as gifts. A lover of history, Fred spent time with his wife, Norma, in his retirement visiting historic sites and museums, such as the NH Historical Society or the Currier Museum, both of which he was a member. He belonged to the Palace Theater and loved musicals. His wife got him to read books on a kindle which he eventually enjoyed. He was an avid pistol shooter and could often be seen at the range with his daughter.
He is survived by his wife, Norma, with whom he shared 61 years; his daughter, Jennifer of Manchester, NH; granddaughter, Paige (Xoe) Russell of Williston, VT, and her fiance, Seth Stuart; and a sister, Glendys Phelan, and her husband, William ,of Andover, MA.
There will be no calling hours and a celebration of life will be held for the family and friends on July 11, 2026, at 11:00 am, at Manchester Place, Kidder Street, Manchester.
Fred was a Mason with Evening Star #37 Lodge in Colebrook, and later with Washington #61 Lodge in Manchester; was knighted in North Star-Saint Gerard Commandery #4, Knights Templar in Lancaster, and created a Knight of York in Profile York Rite College No. 100, in Concord, NH.
