Gabrielle Messier

Sr. Gabrielle Messier, PM (Sr. Sainte-Marie-de-L'Ascension), 92, of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, Manchester died August 30, 2017 at her residence.
Born in Lewiston, ME on September 18, 1924, she was the daughter of Toussaint and Laura (Faucher) Messier. She made her final Religious Profession on February 2, 1946.
She obtained a BA in English from Rivier University and a Master's Degree in Counseling from Marywood College. She taught elementary and high school throughout the Diocese of Manchester, NH. She served as principal in Gallup and Sante Fe in New Mexico. Her most rewarding and fulfilling ministry was among the poor Indian and Mexican children. She retired at St. Joseph's Residence in 2008.
She was predeceased by her parents, a brother Philip and a sister, Irene.
Sr. Gabrielle is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, September 1, 2017 in the Resurrection Chapel of St. Marie Residence, 495 Mammoth Rd, Manchester. Burial followed in the Presentation of Mary Cemetery, Hudson.
