Gary E. Lundh

August 8, 1943 — March 20, 2024

Manchester

Gary Edward Lundh, 80, died March 20th, 2024, after a period of declining health.  He spent his final days well cared for and surrounded by his loved ones.

Gary was born in Manchester, NH and attended Manchester Schools.  He graduated from Goffstown High School and attended Bentley College in Boston, MA.

Gary began his career in banking at the Manchester Savings Bank and then at Indian Head National Bank in Portsmouth before serving in the Army National Guard.  Gary completed a combat tour of duty in Vietnam from 1968 through 1969.  He served as Staff Sargent for the 3rd Battalion 197th Artillery D Battery 3rd Mobile Strike Force and was awarded the Bronze Star. Gary was a true patriot at heart and helping a brother or sister in need was an intrinsic part of his personality.

Gary went on to become the Vice President of the Durham Trust Company in Durham, NH.  He finished his long banking career with a 17-year tenure at the Meredith Village Savings Bank before he finally retired in 2011.

Gary supported many organizations over the years.  He was a member of the Meredith Rotary Club, the Lakes Region Watershed Committee, served as a volunteer at the Greater Lakes Region Child Advocacy Center, attended the LPD Citizen Academy, the Lakes Region Leadership and various other community activities.

Gary loved his home state of NH and spent his free time golfing, kayaking, boating, and skiing.  He enjoyed spending time up in Pittsburg, NH and traveling to Pawley’s Island, SC.   Gary was a lifelong car enthusiast with a weakness for mustangs and American-made muscle cars; owning more than his fair share.

Gary was a devoted and loving father to his only daughter, Melissa.  They shared an unshakable bond and a love for the outdoors.  Gary was overjoyed when he became a “Pa” with the birth of his two grandchildren: Malia and Gunnar.  He spent as much time as he could playing with them and watching them grow.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Judith (Gage) Lundh, his daughter, Melissa Lundh Janicke, her husband, Garret, and their two children, Malia Bell and Gunnar Lundh.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 5th at 11 am in Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St.  Burial with military honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life luncheon will immediately follow the burial at the Bedford Village Inn, Rte 101, Bedford.
