George "Andy" Bourque, 83, of Manchester, died at his home after a short illness. He was born in Manchester, on September 8, 1923, and was the son of John and Marie (Bellefeuille) Bourque. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
George graduated from Goffstown High School in 1942 and completed some coursework at UNH. He served in the US Navy from 1942-1948 as a sonar man second class. George worked as a draftsman for Bryant Chuck and Grinder, Pope Manufacturing and more recently, in multiple capacities at Digital Corporation in Salem, NH.
George will be remembered as always being giving person. Following his retirement, George became a volunteer caregiver and gave most of his time, talent and treasures to the elderly. He was also very involved in supporting Right to Life in Plaistow and Birthright in Manchester. In addition, he donated over 20 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross and was a frequent platelet donor.
Family members include his wife of 60 years, Theresa (LaRochelle) Bourque, of Manchester; 4 daughters, Joanne Fitzsimmons, of TX, Janine Shailer, of CT, Marie-Anne Adams, of CA, Annette Boyd, of FL; 5 sons, Ronald Bourque, of CA, A. Eugene Bourque, of WA, Jean-Pierre Bourque, of NH, Bernard Bourque, Rene Bourque, both of CA; 20 grandchildren 20 great grandchildren; 2 sisters,Terrie Trembley of FL, Cecile Juneau of Manchester; 2 brothers - Jean Paul Bourque of Goffstown, Fr. Edmond Bourque, of Ontario, Canada; several nieces nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, May 30, 2007 in Sacred Heart Church Main St. Manchester.
Burial took place in the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
