George L. Parodi, 91, of Auburn, died March 7, 2017 at Catholic Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 4, 1925, the only child of Anthony and Mary (Wilinski) Parodi. He lived in Derry and Auburn for the last 50 years.
A World War II veteran, he entered the U.S. Navy in 1942 for a career that spanned 21 years. He and his wife then owned and operated Broadway Pizza and Sub in Derry for 16 years.
He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Disabled American Veterans and a longtime member of the American Legion Post 79.
He was predeceased by a son, Paul R. Parodi in 2010.
The family includes his wife of 70 years, Margaret "Peg" (Sullivan) Parodi of Auburn; four children, George A. Parodi and his wife, Maureen, of Derry, Robert M. Parodi of Brookline, Jean M. Marcus and her husband, John, of Eliot, ME and Thomas J. Parodi of Manchester; a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Parodi of Auburn; 14 grandchildren, Anna, Julia, Joseph, William, Keri-Ann, Samuel, Katie, Emily, Peter, Elizabeth, Eileen, Karin, Jennifer and Jillian; six great grandchildren, Emma, Ian, Aidan, Clare, Nora and Henry; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, March 10, 2017 at St. Peter Church, 567 Manchester Rd., Auburn. Private burial is at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
