George A. LaPorte

Born in Manchester on May 23, 1952, he was the beloved and only son of the late Leo and Florence (Moquin) LaPorte. He graduated from Bishop Bradley High School in 1970 and lived in Manchester for most of his life.

George was a driver education teacher at Concord High School and St. Paul's School both in Concord and was an officer with the New England Driver's Education Association. One of his proudest accomplishments was being elected a representative to the NH General Court. He also served as Ward 3 moderator in Manchester.

He was a member of the parish council and a Eucharistic Minister at the former St. George Church in Manchester. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus

A man who possessed a great sense of humor and had a heart of gold, George always had a song in his heart. He was a man of great faith. Even during the latter part of his life, he would not allow his illness to destroy his spirit.

He was married to Gabrielle A. (Vigneault) LaPorte who died in 2011.

The family includes his uncle, Henry LaPorte of Bradenton, FL; his godmother and aunt, Georgette Munsey of Manchester; his aunts, Mildred Moquin of Tucson, AZ and Diane Moquin of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

George's family is grateful to the staff and residents of Mt. Carmel. Their love and dedication were exceptional and they truly became George's second family.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at St. Catherine Church, corner of Webster and Hemlock streets, Manchester. Private burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Manchester.
