George A. Marcoux

George Alfred Marcoux, Sr, 84, of Gilford, NH entered heaven to join his wife on February 1, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Manchester on February 22, 1932, he was the son of Alfred L. and Emilienne (St. Pierre) Marcoux. George was educated in the local Manchester school system. He served in the Navy onboard the USS Newman K. Perry (DD-883) during the Korean War era and was honorably discharged.
Following his successful military duty, George built homes in New Hampshire and also worked at Kalwall Corporation for many years. Later, George became the proud owner of Brookside Drive-in restaurant in Derry, NH until his retirement.
George was a volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul in Laconia and also a member of the Belmont senior center where he enjoyed socializing with friends. He looked forward to spending winters in Florida, swimming, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Doris (L'Heureux) Marcoux in 2012 and one sister, Cecile Poirier.
Family members include his children, Joan Marcoux of Manchester, Diane Kingery and husband Serge of Wilton, NH, Rita Marcoux and husband Jim Gutkowski of Saunderstown, RI, George Marcoux Jr and companion Susie Ruby of Shapleigh, ME, and Paul Marcoux and wife Anne DeMarco of Brentwood, NH; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Laliberte of Auburn and Violette Deroo of NC; many nephews, nieces and cousins.
A service was held on Sunday, February 5, 2017 in the chapel at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, Manchester. Burial will be in St. Augustin Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made in his memory to the Center NH VNA & Hospice Program, 780 N Main St, Laconia, NH 03246.
