George W. Nuttle, 98, of Hooksett, died January 5, 2005, at Integrated Health Services in Manchester, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Manchester, November 13, 1906, he was a son of Henry and Leonida (Landry) Nuttle. He lived many years in Manchester had moved to Hooksett after his retirement.

He worked for a time as a foreman for J.F. McElwain Shoe Co.

For more than 20 years he worked for the Boy Scouts of America, Daniel Webster Council. He was a scoutmaster, neighborhood commissioner; district committeeman, and camp ranger at Camp Carpenter from 1944 to 1971. While there he was responsible for much of the growth in camping facilities and programs. He was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.

He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn B. (Lamothe) Nuttle, and by his son, Robert G. Nuttle.

Family members include a daughter, Lorraine E. Poor of Merrimack; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Saturday from 9 to 10:30 am at Lambert Funeral Home, 1799 Elm St., corner of North St., Manchester.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 am at St. Catherine Church, corner of Webster and Hemlock Sts. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
