George Poist, 87, of Goffstown, died July 9, 2018 at his home after a brief illness.
He was born in Baltimore, MD on June 15, 1931 to George J. and Irene (Sheppard) Poist. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and lived his life in Baltimore and Goffstown.
He was a lifelong self-employed plumber with Poist and Sons in Maryland and Poist Mechanical in Goffstown.
George was a hard worker who enjoyed woodworking and watching pro football. He was also a generous person who donated to causes that were important to him over many years.
The family includes wife of 63 years, Jean L. (Beck) Poist; four children, Charles Wayne Poist and wife, Brenda Miller, Deborah J. Tyc and husband, Lawrence, Jerome William Poist and wife, Mary Decker and Trina Lorraine Hess and husband, Andrew Hess Sr.; 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
A funeral ceremony was held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.
