George Nevins Tuman Jr., a man whose life was defined by music, friendship, laughter, and an unmistakable joy for living, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, after a brief illness. Born on April 12, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, George lived a life rich in experience, connection, and unforgettable stories.

From an early age, George was drawn to music and performance. He played in several bands over the years, always happiest behind a drum kit, where rhythm came as naturally to him as conversation. It was his time as the drummer for The Satellites that proved pivotal — a chapter that opened the door to adventure and ultimately brought George to Las Vegas, a city that would shape so much of his life.

Las Vegas suited George perfectly. He built a long and proud career at the Las Vegas Hilton, becoming part of the heartbeat of one of the most iconic entertainment venues in the world. Surrounded by bright lights, late nights, and legendary performers, George thrived. His years at the Hilton placed him close to the entertainers who defined Las Vegas’s golden era, including Elvis Presley, whose late-night appearances became treasured memories and favorite stories he loved to share.

Golf was another lifelong passion. George was a proud member of the Las Vegas Country Club and later an enthusiastic participant in The Villages golfing community. Known for his exceptional short game and famously “great hands,” he delighted in the game and recorded numerous hole-in-ones over the years. Golf, like music, was for George a source of friendship, laughter, and joy.

In later years, George made his home in The Villages, Florida, a community he wholeheartedly embraced. There, he formed deep friendships and lasting relationships, becoming a familiar and beloved presence. His warmth, generosity, and natural charm drew people to him, and his time in The Villages was filled with music, golf, dancing, and meaningful connection.

George was married twice. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Valerie McKeon, whose love and companionship were central to his later years. He was also previously married to Sandy Lee Rider Tuman.

Following Valerie’s passing, George spent his remaining time surrounded by love with his stepson’s family, the McKeons of Bedford, New Hampshire. This final chapter brought him great happiness. The McKeon family feels profoundly fortunate and grateful for the time they shared with George, who embraced the role of step-grandfather to John McKeon with pride and joy. He filled their home with laughter, music, stories, and love — the kind of warmth that only “Georgie” could bring.

George is survived by those who were fortunate enough to call him family: his stepson, Kevin McKeon; his step-grandson, John McKeon; his step-daughter-in-law, Kristina McKeon; his stepdaughter, Maridon Leh; his nephew, Edwin R. Tuman; and his sister-in-law, Lauren Tuman. He is also fondly remembered by a wide circle of friends who became family through years of laughter, music, golf, and shared stories.

George’s life was well lived — played in rhythm, shared generously, and filled with joy. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
