Georgette J. Sienko, 92, of Hillsborough, NC (formerly of Bedford, NH and Bellows Falls, VT), died peacefully at her home surrounded by family on July 13, 2021.
She was born on October 4, 1928 in Bellows Falls, Vt and was the daughter of Lionel and Jeanne (DesRuisseaux) LeBlanc. She lived most of her adult life in Bedford, NH working at New England Telephone for 32 years, retiring in 1991. She had fond memories of growing up in Bellows Falls as a graduate of BFHS class of '46. She loved sharing stories about walking down Main Street, getting treats at Whelan's Drug Store, going to the movies at the Falls Cinema and swimming in the Cold River with her friend Leona.
Georgette always said her husband Fred "married her to get her off the golf course." She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and a wonderful friend to many, always having a kind word to share. Georgette loved her family more than anything. She was a woman of deep faith and a longtime, dedicated parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton in Bedford, NH and a founding member of the congregation when their initial services were held at the Bedford Town Hall. She was most recently a communicant of Holy Family Catholic Church in Hillsborough, NC and found great comfort in being administered Last Rites before she passed. It brings her family joy to know that she is resting at peace in Heaven with her beloved family and friends.
Upon retirement, she volunteered to teach adult literacy classes through the Manchester, NH Library. She could often be found taking her "power" walks around the neighborhood, doing crossword puzzles, eating at Blake's Restaurant with her friends, or enjoying a cup of black coffee and a slice of burnt toast. She was considered a super speller to her family and loved doing the Jumble puzzle daily. Known to her grandchildren as "Umma", she was famous for her quick wit, dry sense of humor, sweet tooth, the giant coleus plant on her front porch and her love of sunrises, sunsets, fall foliage, Big Band music and dancing to the easy listening music channel. She will be dearly missed.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick J. Sienko in 1990, sister, Helen LaCasse in 2014 and one stillborn child in 1965.
She is survived by daughter, Susan (Steve) Smalley of Grand Rapids, MI, daughter, Sandra (Brian) Chandler of Hillsborough, NC, son, Fred (Jennifer) Sienko of Northwood, NH, five grandchildren, Madison Chandler, Natalie Chandler, Cutler Sienko, Frederick Smalley and Jack Smalley and many nieces and nephews.
