Gerald H. Proulx, 90, of Manchester, died February 1, 2025, at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home, after a period of declining health, surrounded by his loving family.
Born November 30, 1934, he was the son of the late Leon and Valeda (Boisvert) Proulx. He was educated in Manchester and served in the Army National Guard for 15 years. He was active during the Berlin Missile Crisis and was honorably discharged at the rank of Master Sergeant First Class in 1962. Upon returning from the National Guard, he worked in sheet metal and roofing, mostly Skyline Roofing, retiring from the industry in 1988. Gerald enjoyed playing cards and word search puzzles. He also enjoyed long rides and spending time at North Hampton Beach where he and his wife Claire lived. He was a hardworking, strong willed man, but definitely had a very softer side to him. Every Christmas Eve he would dust off his Santa Suit to bring joy to many children of family and friends in Manchester and surrounding areas. He was also hired to play Santa with Woolco Department Store. Above all else, he will be remembered as a devoted and loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.
Surviving family includes three daughters, Diane Sweeney and husband Robert of Belmont, Susan Demanche and partner Thomas Pajak of Londonderry, and Donna Morin and husband David of Bradenton, FL; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister Lorraine Grant of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews. Gerald was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Claire (Faucher) Proulx in 1997; one granddaughter, Shayna Demanche; and three brothers, Leon Proulx, Jr., Roland Proulx and Armand Proulx.
