Geraldine M. Swenson, 92, of Derry, died on May 6, 2018, at St. Joseph Hospital, Nashua, after a period of declining health, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Newark, NJ on September 27, 1925, Geraldine was the daughter of Benjamin and Florence (Twardus) Rudine. She grew up in Hillside, NJ and graduated from Providence Bible Institute in RI. Her adult life was dedicated to raising her family and serving as a missionary to Japan alongside her husband for 34 years. She spent the last 26 years in Nashua, NH.
In her youth, Geraldine loved roller skating. Throughout her life she was very involved in church ministry including teaching Bible, cooking, and English to women. She had a passion for music ministry including choral and solo singing, and was gifted in hospitality. Geraldine took great pleasure in cooking, sewing, reading, cross-stitching, and traveling. She managed her home and ministry with great purpose, skill, and dedication. She loved people and made a tremendous spiritual impact on the lives of many. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, teacher, mentor, and friend.
Family includes her husband of 67 years, Lyndon L. Swenson of Derry; one daughter, Lois Pincince and husband Philip of Dunbarton; three sons, Wayne Swenson and wife Ruth of Pace, FL; Mark Swenson and wife Lena of Meridian, ID; and Gregory Swenson and wife Asa of Tokyo, Japan; one brother, Ted Rudine and wife Janet of Columbus, NJ; 11 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, David Swenson in 1953; and one grandson, Sidnee Swenson in 1998.
Burial took place on Monday, May 14, 2018 in NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen. Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.
