Geraldine Patricia Sweeney

Geraldine (Gerri) Patricia Sweeney, 83, of Manchester, NH, died peacefully on October 30, 2017 at the Catholic Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Queens, NY on February 21, 1934, she was the daughter of Patrick and Dorothy (Clement) Fitzgerald. In addition to raising children, Gerri enjoyed being active. She loved gardening, sewing, praying, teaching CCD, camping, and her involvement with the catholic church. Once the children were beyond kindergarten, she became a Licensed Realtor and a Certified Paralegal and sold residential real estate in northeast PA. She had a keen interest in local and national political issues and was always ready for a spirited debate on the hot topic of the week.
Gerri and the love of her life Larry were married in 1953. They raised a wonderful family in West Islip, NY through 1979 and then in East Bangor, PA until 1997, when Gerri and Larry moved to Manchester, New Hampshire to be closer to family and grandchildren. Lawrence Sweeney passed away in 2009.
Family members include her seven children, Kevin Sweeney of Oakdale, NY, Glenn Sweeney and wife Heather of Amherst, NH, Nancy Huseman and husband John of Amherst, NH, Daniel Sweeney of Thompson, PA, Patrick Sweeney and wife Heather of Portland, OR, Kathe Sweeney and husband Neil Edde of San Francisco, CA, and John Sweeney of Stroudsburg, PA; 10 loving grandchildren Cale, Ryan, Danielle, Tiffany, Taylor, Tanner, Kelley, Christopher, Cole, and Liam; and great-grandchild Dax Sweeney. She is also survived by a sister, Joan Malinovsky of Poughkeepsie, NY and numerous nephews and nieces across the country.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, November 3, 2017 in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Manchester. Urn burial will be in Flushing, NY at a later date.
