Gerard E. Houle, 97, of Manchester died May 14, 2016 at a local healthcare facility after a lengthy illness.
Born in Manchester on April 20, 1919, he was the son of Alfred and Exebena (Gagnon) Houle. He was educated in the local school system.
During WWII, he served in the US Navy and stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day.
Prior to retirement, he had worked as a weaver for Waumbec Mills.
He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans Bishop Guertin Post 1842. He was also a member of the League of One Thousand Men of the Monastery of the Precious Blood.
Gerry enjoyed fly fishing and above all else, spending time with his family.
His wife, Lillian (Provencher) Houle died in 2011.
Family members include his daughters, Theresa Lacz of Bedford, Doris Burke; one son, Ronald Houle of Burke, VA; five grandchildren, Jason Lacz, Patrick and Seamus Burke, Justin and Katherine Houle; several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
