Gerard A. Lagasse

Gerard A. Lagasse, 82, of Manchester, died March 6, 2009 at Elliot Hospital after a period of declining health.

He was born in Manchester, May 2, 1926 and was the son of Albert and Laura (Whitmore) Lagasse. He served in the US Army during World War II having served in the Pacific Theatre. He was a lifelong resident of this city.

He was a shoe designer and had worked for Bee Bee Shoe and Myrna Shoe.

Mr. Lagasse played baseball, softball, and basketball. He was a referee for high school and college basketball. In addition he refereed CYO and Tri-Mountain League games and in baseball refereed Little League, Babe Ruth and Tri-Mountain baseball. He was a member of the NH State Board of Approved Basketball Officials for more than 25 years.

He was a member of Sweeney Post and a 40 year member of the Derryfield Country Club. He was also a member of the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood Monastery.

He was an avid New York Yankees fan.

Family members include his wife of 60 years, Lorraine (L'Heureux) Lagasse of Manchester; three sons, David A. Lagasse of Newfields, NH, Mark W. Lagasse of Bedford, and Dr. Robert S. Lagasse of Stamford, CT; 8 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held Monday, March 9, 2009 in the funeral home. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
