Gerard J. Montembeault

Gerard J. "Monty" Montembeault, 80, of Manchester, NH, died May 21, 2007 at the Elliot Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Franklin, NH, January 11, 1927, and was the son of Azarie and Annette (St. Cyr) Montembeault. He was a graduate of Franklin High School.

During World War II he served in the US Navy aboard the USS Banner, a destroyer in the South Pacific

Mr. Montembeault was the owner and president of Dobles Chevrolet-Buick, Inc. He began at Dobles Chevrolet in 1957 where he became the used vehicle manager. In 1985 he became the owner and president of the dealership.

He was a contributor to many local and civic organizations. Among the recipients of his services were the Manchester Historic Association, Manchester City Library, Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau, Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Toys for Tots and numerous sporting associations.

He was the recipient of the GM Mark of Excellence and the Chevrolet Genuine Leader Award in 1999, 2000 and 2001; #1 Greater Manchester New Car Dealers in 1998; Northeast Region "Top Ten Sales" in 1997 and many others. He served as president of the Manchester Auto Dealers Association in 1983 and as treasurer in 2001 and 2002.

He was a communicant of St. Anthony Church.

Family members include his wife of 59 years, Eva (Davis) Montembeault of Manchester; a daughter, Mary Ann Grigas and her husband Mark of Litchfield, NH; a son, Jeffrey J. Montembeault and his wife Dina of Manchester; three grandchildren, Stephanie Barto of Schnecksville, PA, Stacey Lewis of Nashua, NH, and Michael J. Montembeault of Manchester; two great grandchildren, John Mark Barto and Jacob Paul Barto, both of Schnecksville, PA; two sisters, Patricia Griffin of Tilton, NH, and Eugenia Moxham of Northfield, NH; three brothers, Leo Montembeault of Tilton, NH, Richard Montembeault of Lochmere, NH, and David Montembeault of Sunapee, NH; many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday May 25, 2007 at St. Anthony Church, 172 Belmont St., Manchester, NH. Encryptment followed in Mount Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester, NH

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the NH Veterans Home, 139 Winter St., Tilton, NH, 03276 or the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303.
