She was born in Woonsocket, RI June 6, 1905 and was the daughter of Hermas and Honorine (Fontaine) Fagnant.
She entered the order of the Sisters of Presentation of Mary in Canada in 1925 and made her First Proffeion in 1927 and her Final Profession in 1932.
She earned a Bachelor Degree in education from Rivier College in Nashua, NH
Sister Germaine taught in parochial schools in Gardner, East Blackstone and Linwood Massachusetts; in Gorham and Hudson, NH and in Phenix, Woonsocket and W. Warwick, RI. She served as Local Superior at Christ the King Convent in W. Warwick, RI from 1946 to 1952.
She retired to the Marie Rivier Community in Hudson, NH in 1998, and transferred to the St. Joseph Residence in Manchester in 2006.
She was an avid reader and also enjoyed arts and crafts, especially knitting woolen apparel for the children of poor families.
She will be remembered for her gentleness and compassion for the sisters of her community as well as those with whom she served in her lifetime.
She leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday, December 20, 2008 in the Resurrection Chapel. Burial was in Presentation of Mary Cemetery, Hudson, NH.
Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, was in charge of arrangements.
