Gertrude S. (Remillard) Croteau, 98, of Bedford, died March 22, 2018 at Catholic Medical Center after enjoying a very long wonderful and healthy life.
She was born in Lawrence, MA on November 21, 1919 to Henry and Mary (Jobin) Remillard. She lived in Manchester for most of her life and had wintered in Venice, FL for many years.
Along with her husband, Lucien, Gertrude built over 38 homes throughout Manchester as Croteau Construction Company. She was a fantastic and skilled dancer. She also participated in the walking group Walk Manchester and enjoyed playing cards, barbeques and family dinners. She especially enjoyed time spent with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 73 years, Lucien J. Croteau in 2014; a son, Robert Croteau earlier this year and by 12 siblings.
The family includes two children, Lorraine Forest and her husband, Robert, of Ocala, FL and Dennis Croteau and his wife, Deborah, of Bedford; a daughter-in-law, Claudette Croteau of St. Augustine, FL; five grandchildren, Matthew Croteau, Ken Forest, Karen Hollowood, Sarah Thompson and Jennifer Croteau; six great grandchildren, Katie Hollowood, Kimberly Montague, Christian and Cooper Forest and Sophie and McKenna Thompson; a sister, Madeleine Despins of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
