Gertrude G. Demers, 90, of Manchester, died February 25, 2007, at the Elliot Hospital.

She was born in Manchester, June 9, 1916, and was the daughter of Elmer J. and Olympe (Gaillardet) Gagnon. She was a graduate of Manchester Central High School and attended Hesser Business College.

She worked 33 years as Assistant Secretary of Manchester Federal Savings & Loan Association.

She was a past president of the NH Cooperative Savings & Loan Treasurettes, and a past president of Sentinel Research & Service Corp. of United Savings Bank.

She was a member of St. Catherine Church.

Gert and Gene were role models to many with their marriage of 63 years.

Although they had no children of their own, there were numerous children of family and friends to which they were devoted.

Gert was extremely grateful for the many family and friends that assisted her over the years.

She was truly loved and will be greatly missed.

Family members include her husband of 63 years, Eugene G. Demers of Manchester; three sisters, Anita G. Czaja of Bay Shore, NY, Pauline G. Elliott of Manchester, and Constance G. Mullen of Cary, NC; nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday February 28, 2007 at St. Catherine Church. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to NH Catholic Charities, PO Box 686, Manchester, NH 03105-0686, or the Precious Blood Monastery, 700 Bridge St., Manchester, 03104.

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, was in charge of arrangements.
