Sr. Gertrude Landreville, CSC (Sr. Mary Helen of the Cross), 81, of the Sisters of Holy Cross died March 10, 2004 at Elliot Hospital.

Born on December 2, 1922, she was the daughter of Albini and Dorothy (Comeau) Landreville. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1942 and made her final profession in 1944.

She earned a bachelor's degree from Notre Dame College in Manchester.

Sr. Landreville taught at parochial elementary and high schools. She taught at Our Lady of the Angels Academy in St. Laurent, Quebec; in North Grosvenordale, CT and in New Hampshire at St. Louis de Gonzage, Nashua, Holy Rosary, Rochester, St. Mary's, Newmarket and Immaculata High School, Manchester. Her last assignment was at St. Anthony in New Bedford, MA.

In her retirement, she went to Infant of Jesus Convent in Nashua where she worked in the after school program and participated in the local parish prayer group. As part of the Nashua Senior Volunteer Program, she helped the poor by knitting hats, mittens and scarfs.

The family includes a brother, Raymond Landreville of Rockland, MA; three sisters, Anita Firth of Hudson, MA, Lucille Melanson of New Smyrna, FL and Sr. Jeannette Landreville, CSC of Manchester; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and one great grandniece.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday March 18, 2004 in the chapel of St. George Manor. Burial was in St. Augustin Cemetery, Manchester.

Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Cross Development Office, 377 Island Pond Rd., Manchester 03109.

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester was in charge of arrangements.
