Gloria G. (Prince) Taggart, 83, of Manchester, died peacefully on May 3, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Manchester on October 2, 1942 to her parents, Lucien and Gertrude (Leclerc) Prince. She graduated from St. Marie High School, Class of 1960. After graduation, she enjoyed her early career at the telephone company. She went on to work in special education at Southside Middle School. Her patience, humor, and loving heart benefitted the students she worked with. Prior to retirement, she worked for the American Red Cross for many years where you might have been greeted by her warm and welcoming smile upon entering.
Gloria was deeply committed to her Catholic faith. St. Catherine of Siena Parish was a second home to her and she loved singing in the choir for nearly 40 years. At home, she could often be found singing and humming the hymns of the week. She also dedicated her time as a CCD teacher, along with other volunteer roles.
Gloria loved her family with her whole heart. She was a loving, supportive and dedicated mother to “her girls”. She cherished her seven grandchildren and loved them beyond measure. Her entire face would light up when in their presence and they were deeply connected to her. Her warmth, sense of humor, and joyfulness lives on in them.
She treasured her six siblings. Gloria and her sisters found immense joy in the simplest moments. Everything was fun when they were together! She found endless joy at large family gatherings where she could give her big hugs to everyone she loved. Gloria and her sisters rejoiced when their brother came home and all seven could be together once again. Last but not least, Gloria loved the life she built with her loving husband of 57 years, Bruce. The love shared between “Bruce and Glo” carried them from their first days of falling in love all the way through Gloria’s final moments. Their devotion to one another has set an example for their daughters and grandchildren.
Family members include her husband, Bruce C. Taggart of Manchester; her daughters, Rebecca Taggart Melia and husband Christopher, and their children, Lilah, Sam, Annabelle and Charlie of Londonderry, Leslie Taggart-Williams and husband Matthew and their children Ryan, Annie, and Miles of Londonderry; her siblings, Jeanne Proulx and husband Richard of Bedford, Jacqueline Katz of Andover, MA, Claire Duffy and husband Brad of Hooksett, Diane Waskiewicz and husband Jim of Marston Mills, MA, Madeleine Prince of Manchester, Ernest Prince and wife Cecelia of Murfreesboro, TN; and ten beloved nephews and nieces and their families. Gloria had many dear, lifelong friends, cousins, aunts, and uncles. She treasured each one.
The Arbors of Bedford was Gloria’s “home” for the past two years. All who work there had a profound impact on her life, treating her with extraordinary love and care. The staff and residents will always have a special place in her family’s heart.
