She was born in Manchester on December 12, 1952, the daughter of William and Esther (Lorden) Charest. She graduated from Goffstown High School and earned her associate's degree in early childhood education from Manchester Community Technical College.
Prior to her illness, Gloria had been employed as a teacher at Wee Play School in Manchester. Previously, she had worked as a cook at the Villa Augustina School for many years.
She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who excelled at crafts and cake decorating.
Members of her family include two daughters, Melissa Descoteau and Jenifer Ouellette; three sons, Daniel Wheeler, Allen Wheeler, and Jonathan Wheeler; four grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Charest and Diana Turner.
A memorial service was held Monday February 4, 2008 in the First Congregational Church, 508 Union St, Manchester, with Pastor Christopher J. Emerson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Concord Regional VNA Hospice House, 250 Pleasant St, Concord, NH, 03301.
