Grace A. Mappes

She was born in Cincinnati, OH on July 17, 1930, daughter of Mae Rose (Ring) and Frederick Poundstone. Her husband of 57 years, Richard L. Mappes, died in 2008.

She earned her degree from the University of Cincinnati, where she met her husband. She had lived in the Charlotte, NC area for 13 years prior to moving to Litchfield in 2007.

Grace will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother who enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, and gardening. She was always active in her local parish, most recently volunteering at St. Francis of Assisi Church.

Family members include a daughter, Joyce Lezberg and husband Paul of Westford, MA; a son, Michael Mappes and companion Robert of Londonderry; nephews and nieces.

A memorial Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, November 19, 2012 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Litchfield. Committal prayers followed in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
