Guy G. Plante, 84, of Manchester, died April 16, 2021 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home after a period of declining health.
He was born in Manchester on November 22, 1936 to Donat and Cecile (Keroack) Plante. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He earned a bachelor's degree in French from St. Anselm College in 1960, where he graduated cum laude. He then earned a master's degree in French from Middlebury College in 1966 and did further graduate studies at the University of New Hampshire, Beaudoin College and Notre Dame College.
Guy taught at Manchester Memorial High School for 27 years and retired in 1998. He was a member of the New Hampshire Education Association, National Education Association, Manchester Education Association and both the NH and Manchester Retired Teachers Association. He loved what he did and enjoyed talking to others about it.
He was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church where he taught CCD, was president of the parish's religious education program for 12 years and served as a Eucharistic Minister.
He enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, had a sweet tooth (especially for KitKat bars) and appreciated a clever joke.
He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Constance (Jalbert) Plante in 2020.
The family includes four children, Michele C. Dumas and her husband, Robert, of Manchester, Denis Plante and his wife, Donna, of Eustis, FL, Renee Reed and her husband, David, of Goffstown and Marc Plante of Manchester; five grandchildren, Amanda Stein and her husband, Kevin, Lynne Dumas, Haley Reed, Andrew Reed and Nicole Dumas.
SERVICES: There are no calling hours. A graveside committal service is Wednesday (4/28) at 9 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
