Harold R. Amirault, 97, of Manchester, died December 24, 2023 at Catholic Medical Center after a brief illness with family at his side.
He was born in Malden, MA on September 12, 1926 to Theodore and Theresa (Meuse) Amirault. His early years were spent in Nova Scotia, Canada where he lived in Yarmouth, Amirault’s Hill and Halifax. He moved to New Hampshire in 1949 and had lived in Manchester since 1955.
Harold worked as a tractor trailer driver for many years. He started out as a private contractor, then worked for various trucking companies throughout southern New Hampshire. In retirement, he worked part-time for Eversource (PSNH), Grace Limousine and finally, Enterprise Car Rental, leaving there only five years ago.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 633 and the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood. He enjoyed dancing, country music, crossword puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Mecum Auto Auctions.
Harold was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Anita (David) Amirault in 2011 and three siblings, Louis Amirault, Russell Amirault and Evelyn Marny.
He is survived by five children, Linda Kleinschmidt and her husband, Ralf, of Hooksett, NH Lucille Amirault-Gauld and her husband, Tom, of Manchester, NH Louise Wall and her husband, James, of Anthem, AZ, Ray Amirault and his wife, Bonnie, of Rochester, NH and JoAnn Paris and her husband, Richard, of Manchester, NH; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren with another on the way; a brother, Arthur Amirault and his wife, Ellen, of Amesbury, MA; a sister-in-law, Glenda Amirault of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; a cousin, Alvin Muise, of Waltham, MA and other cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, extended family and former co-workers across the U.S. and Canada.
The family would like to thank the staff at Catholic Medical Center, D-100 for the quality care they provided to Harold.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Saturday (12/30) from 12 to 3 p.m. followed immediately at 3 p.m. by a funeral ceremony, all at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. Private interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Manchester.
