Harold J. Hawkins, 70 of Bedford, died August 23, at his home after a long illness.
He was born in Waterbury CT on February 3, 1933, and was the son of Henry and Mable (Simpson) Hawkins.
Mr. Hawkins was a veteran of the United States Navy, and in 1954 he received a BS in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
He worked for over thirty years at Carter Pile Driving Company, of Natick MA.
He was a member of the Foundation and Marine and Contractors Association of N.E. Inc.He was a member of Local 56 Pile Drivers Union.
His family was the center of his life.Mr. Hawkins was an avid gardener, and woodworker. He loved to take long car rides, and had spent a great deal of time traveling the world. He followed all sports especially the Red Sox.
Family members include his wife of 44 years, Judea(Bergeski)Hawkins; 2 daughters, Mrs.Mark(Cynthia) Baldwin, of Londonderry, Monique Hawkins, of Arlington MA; 2 sisters, Marge Evans, and Patricia Trembly, both of CT;3 grandchildren, Chantel,Chloe, and Sierra Baldwin; His two dogs, Charley and Molly.
Services were private, encrypment was in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
