He was born in Manchester, February 8, 1927 and was the son of George and Blanche (Fraser) Lafond. He was educated in local schools attending Sacred Heart Grammar School and later graduating from West High School.
He entered the US Army in 1944 and re-re-enlisted in 1951 and served during the Korean Conflict.
He had been a member of the Manchester Police Department for more than 26 years retiring as a Lieutenant.
Harold loved to travel and spent many years in Zephyrhills, Florida.
Family members include two daughters, Pauline Begin and her husband of Newport and Therese Tryyar of Maryland; a son, Richard Lafond of Zephyrhills, Fl; 27 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Victor Lafond of Tilton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Corinne Dunn Lafond in 2006, a son, Donald Lafond in 2007, a grandson, Rick Lafond in 2014 and a sister, Irene Vanasse in 2011.
There are no visiting hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph Cathedral Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 9 a.m.
Burial, with military honors, will be Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH
