Harold entered the US Army in 1944 and re-enlisted in 1951 to serve during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Manchester Police Department for more than 26 years retiring as a Lieutenant.
Harold loved to travel and spent many years in Zephyrhills, Florida.
Family members include, two daughters, Pauline Begin and her husband Paul of Newport and Therese Tyeryar of Maryland; a son, Richard Lafond of Zephyrhills,Fl; two step-daughters, Susan Duval, of New Boston; Linda Duval of Weare, NH, two step-sons, Steven Scholes of Loudon, NH and Michael Scholes of Hancock ME; 27 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Victor Lafond of Tilton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Corinne Dunn Lafond in 2006, a son, Donald Lafond in 2007, a grandson, Rick Lafond in 2014 and a sister, Irene Vanasse in 2011.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, October 2, 2014 in St. Joseph Cathedral Chapel, 145 Lowell St. Burial with military honors followed at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Manchester Police Relief Fund, 405 Valley St., Manchester, NH 03103.
