Harold J. Magarian, 92, of Manchester died November 28, 2001 at Elliot Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Manchester on October 7, 1909, he was the son of Arshaz and Catherine (O'Rourke) Magarian. He lived most of his life in Manchester and 10 years in North Port, FL.
During World War II and the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Bronze Star in both wars. He served 27 years and retired with the rank of Major.
Mr. Magarian later worked for the State of New Hampshire as a parole officer for 10 years.
He was a member of the Retired Officers Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also was a member of two American Legion posts: Henry J. Sweeney Post #2 in Manchester and Post #254 in North Port, FL.
The family includes his wife of 69 years, Anna T. (DeNauw) Magarian of Manchester; a son, Charles H. Magarian of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister, Alice Poulin of Peabody, MA; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were November 30, 2001 in Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North street, Manchester. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated December 1, 2001 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, corner of Cypress and Hayward streets, Manchester. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Calef Rd., Manchester.
