Harold F. Stone

Harold Francis Stone, 96, of Manchester died October 22, 2023 after a period of declining health.

Born in Manchester on August 16, 1927, he was the son of Arthur and Lucy (Gove) Stone.  He graduated from Manchester Central High School.

During WWII, he served in the US Army earning the rank of Technician Fifth Grade.  Prior to retirement, he had worked as a machinist for Jewell Instruments for 48 years.  During retirement, he and Dee took bus trips throughout the United States and enjoyed spending time at the Maine beaches.

Harold was active with his sons in Boy Scout leadership and coached youth community baseball teams.  In later years, Harold served the community as a member of St. John the Baptist Church and St. Catherine's Church.  He was a member of the League of 1000 Men.

Harold was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Post 1624.   He volunteered at CWV sponsored Bingo nights, enjoyed time with other members at annual banquets, Christmas parties, barbecues, and parades.  Harold enjoyed helping neighbors, friends, and family.  Spending time with his family was most important. 

He was predeceased by his wife, Desneige H. “Dee” (Bourgeois) Stone in 2019, his siblings, Wanda Elen, Marion Ferguson, Wilbur Stone, Walter Stone, and Dora Duperon, daughter-in-law, Jo-ann Stone in 2007 and daughter-in-law, Pauline Stone in 2016.

Family members include his children, David Stone of Hillsborough, NH, Janet Connor and husband Jeremy of Merrimack, John Stone of Manchester, Susan Follansbee and husband John of Manchester; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces.

Calling hours at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St, will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm.  A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 am in St. Catherine Church.  Burial with military honors will follow in St. Augustin Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank all who cared for Harold at Maple Leaf Health Care Center.
