Helen E. Bee Tonery

March 28, 1926 — April 7, 2022

Helen E. (Bee) Tonery, 96, of Manchester, loving wife of the late John C. (Bud) Tonery, passed peacefully at home on April 7, 2022, following a brief illness.

Helen was born on March 28, 1926, in Manchester, NH, to Nellie and Herbert Bee. She attended local schools and graduated from Manchester West High School, Class of 1943A, which Helen always proudly declared "the best graduating class ever."

Employed for more than 45 years at New England Telephone Company, Helen began working as an Operator and retired as a Project Engineer. With her intelligence, determination, and extraordinary work ethic, she
excelled in her career and mentored generations of young women along the way. While working full-time at the Telephone Company, Helen co-owned and managed with her husband the Elm Street Flower Shop in Manchester.
The couple's lifelong passion for gardening and flowers was reflected both in the business and in the gardens surrounding their home, which they diligently tended. In particular, their 100+ bush rose garden was a source
of great pride and widely admired throughout the community.

Always up for an adventure, Helen enjoyed traveling to Florida, the Caribbean and Europe. She loved spending time in Wellfleet on the dunes of Cape Cod. Helen had an active social life and maintained a large circle of friends throughout the course of her life, many from her early childhood years.

Preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings Herbert Bee, Louise Merrill and Roberta Lesmerises, Aunt Helen leaves many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Burial will be private. A Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date. Lambert Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
