Sister Helen Guerette, CSC, (Sister Mary Joseph-Albert, CSC) 81, of the Sisters of Holy Cross, 357 Island Pond Road, died July 28, 2004.
She was born on January 15, 1923, in Nashua, NH the daughter of Joseph Adelard and Celina (Ouelette) Guerette.
Sister Helen Guerette entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1946 and made her final profession in 1953. She served in the Congregation for 58 years.
Sister Helen earned a BA from Notre Dame College, Manchester, NH. She taught in elementary parochial schools and High Schools under the direction of the Sisters of Holy Cross in Manchester, Nashua, No. Grosvenordale, CT, and St. Dominic High School in Lewiston, ME. In 1991 she was stationed in West Franklin, NH where she was in charge of maintenance and was a driver for the other sisters. She also served as assistant to the superior from 1994 to 2000. She then retired to St. George Manor, Manchester. At the time of her death she resided at Holy Cross Health Center, Manchester. Her brother Albert pre-deceased her by 6 days.
Sister Helen in survived by her sisters; Doris Guerette, CSC from Rochester, NH, Mrs. Joan Vasco from Bristol, NH and Mrs. Irene Gareri from Middleboro, MA; Several nephews and nieces.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm with a prayer service at 7pm at St. George Manor, Island Pond Road, Manchester. The funeral will be at the chapel at St. George Manor on Monday, August 2 at 10:30am. Burial will follow in St. Augustin Cemetery.
