Helen Marie Hogan

Helen Marie Hogan, affectionately known to many as "Toots," passed away peacefully on April 22nd, 2025, at the age of 76, following a long struggle. Toots was born on October 20th, 1948, in Bangor, Maine, to James and Helen Hogan. When she was a child, her family moved to New Hampshire, where she was raised in Bedford. 

A proud graduate of Manchester West High School in the Class of 1966, Toots embarked on her professional journey at McQuades clothing store in downtown Manchester, NH. She later transitioned into a career as an optician, which included a notable period working in California. Upon returning from California, Toots settled in a home just two doors down from her parents' in Bedford, where she lived with her beloved cat, Thomas. 

Known for her excellent listening skills and her caring nature, Toots touched the lives of her friends, family and neighbors deeply. She built a rewarding career at the Union Leader, serving as a Zone Manager for 24 years. 

Toots is predeceased by her cherished parents, James and Helen Hogan. She leaves behind her siblings, Carol Lewis of Bedford, Deborah Duhaime of Kennersaw, Georgia, Jimmy Hogan and his wife, Pam, of Bedford, Noreen Owens of Stratham and Tim Hogan and his wife, Diane, of Goffstown. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as her dear companion, Thomas. Helen Marie Hogan will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.

SERVICES: Calling hours are on Monday (4/28) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. A graveside service will follow immediately at St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford.
